- Pat Donnelly was born in Ireland and later immigrated to the United States, becoming a naturalized citizen. He worked at the White House as a laborer on the White House Grounds around 1888.1 In this role, Donnelly maintained the lawns and assisted with the general upkeep of the Grounds. Little additional information about his life can be confirmed. Multiple individuals named Pat or Patrick Donnelly lived and worked in Washington, D.C., in the late nineteenth century; to avoid conflating identities, this account reflects only information that can be reliably verified.
