Biography
Little is known about Fanny Thomas outside of her work at the White House during the presidency of John Quincy Adams. In February 1829, President Adams listed the members of his White House staff in his diary, including Fanny Thomas, whom Adams identified as a cook maid. She worked under cook Berney and alongside fellow cook maid Mary Baun.1 She appears in no other entries in Adams’s diary or White House records. As such, it is unknown when her work at the White House began or ended.
